Start here: what training at Virtus actually looks like

Virtus Performance is a coaching gym in Mornington. Every Session is coached start to finish, usually runs about 60 minutes, and is capped at eight people so a coach can see you and correct you. You begin with a Free Intro, then onboarding one to one, then you train your own program on the floor alongside everyone else.

Most people arrive with the same three questions. Am I fit enough to start. Will anyone actually watch what I am doing. And is this going to be another twelve month contract I stop using in March.

The writing in this topic answers those questions the long way, in our own words, going back years. It covers the first conversation, what onboarding is for, how a Session runs, and why we cap the room instead of filling it. If you want the short version instead, the programs page lays out who each program is for, and the memberships page carries the current prices in full.

Questions people ask

Start here, answered.

What happens in a Free Intro?

You sit down with a coach, talk through what you want and what has and has not worked before, and leave with an honest recommendation. It is free and there is no obligation. If we are not the right fit, we will say so.

How many people are in a session?

Sessions are capped at eight. That number exists so a coach can watch every rep in the room rather than run a class from the front.

Do I need to be fit before I start?

No. Onboarding runs one to one before you join the floor, so the program starts from where you actually are rather than where a group timetable assumes you are.

How is this different from a normal gym?

A normal gym sells you access to equipment. Virtus sells you a coach, a program written for you, and a room of people who notice when you are not there.
