Habits and consistency: how showing up becomes automatic

Consistency is not a personality trait. It is a set of decisions you make once and then stop re-making: when you train, where you train, what happens on the day it all falls apart. These articles cover the habit ideas we come back to most, including why the environment usually beats the intention.

Nobody quits training because the program was wrong. They quit because a Tuesday got busy, then a week did, and the gap got easier to keep than to close.

This is the writing about closing that gap. Never miss a Monday, the 168 hour rule, big rocks, the law of diminishing intent, and the plain argument that your environment decides more of your behaviour than your motivation ever will. It is written for people fitting training around work, kids and everything else, which is most of the Virtus Family.

Questions people ask

Habits and consistency, answered.

How many sessions a week should I do?

Two is enough to make real progress if you are consistent with it. Most people do better starting at two they will actually keep than four they will abandon by week five.

What happens if I miss a few weeks?

You pick up where you are, not where you left off. Your program is yours, so a coach adjusts it rather than handing you back the block you were mid-way through.

Does having a coach actually help with consistency?

It is the main thing that does. A Session capped at eight means somebody notices you are not there, which is a far better attendance system than an app reminder.

The hardest part is being there.

Virtus is built for everyday humans fitting training around real lives. Two sessions a week, coached, capped at eight, in Mornington.
