Alright Katie, time for, we've just done the potty. - Hit me. - It was wonderful, quick fire 30 time, any nicknames? - KJ, oh that's pretty standard. - Stop standard. - Bolts. - Bolts, yeah. - Yeah, my surname's Bolton for anyone who thinks my surname-- - For those playing at home. - Yeah, for everyone who thinks my surname's Jean, it's actually Bolton, so Bolts. - Love that, favourite foods, Bolts? - Maybe I'm a bit, I like all food. I like all food, except mussels, they're a bit stinky. - Don't like mussels. - Oh, they're stinky. - They are a bit stinky, maybe it's a shell.

Do you like oysters? - Uh, yeah. - Yeah, see oysters are the best, mussels. - I don't need octopus, they're too intelligent, or lamb. But yeah, otherwise I like all food. - Yeah, good. Favourite movies? - I'm gonna be really boring at this. Top Gun? - Top Gun, oh, such a good movie. You've seen a new one? - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - How good is it? - Previously, hate action, can't stand Tom Cruise. - Wow. - Yeah, those opinions are gone. - Yeah, wow, got that. Favourite music? - I listen to everything, I actually do. Like my playlist would be-- - What are you currently listening to at the moment?

- On the Way Here with the Beautiful Girls, Lamar. - Good track. - Yeah. - Favourite books? - You know what, I feel like I've read a number of like, self-help, motivational, developmental books, and I'm still trying to find the right one, like the ones I've read have, you know, like they've served their purpose, but this is quick, I'm just on request. - I have a theory on those books, those kind of books. They can all be, they could all be 10 pages long. - Oh, seriously, it's, yeah, yeah, they just go round and round until they get to the point.

- The biggest life hack is going on YouTube and going, insert book here, summary, six, seven minutes, just talk through the key points. - 12 rules for life? Have you read that, 12 rules for life? - It is dense, right? Oh my God, just read the chapters. They're the rules, that's all you need to know. So my favourite books, probably more non-fiction, just beautiful stories with a bit of history where you can learn something. - Perfect. Favourite podcast? And you mentioned this in the main-- - I did, ATP, do love ATP podcasts. Recently started listening to The Imperfects, Virtus.

- Great, good shout out. - Yeah, but you know what, I have previously listened to so many health and educational podcasts that I've had a bit of a switch up and don't hate on me, but I'm getting into the inspired, unemployed, for a laugh. - Hey, me too, seriously. - I just need to chill out sometimes. - 100%, whenever a new episode comes up, I'm like, oh yes, half an hour of just funny. - Yeah, and if you can put up with some poor articulation, sorry, then-- - Yes, I definitely agree. - Yeah, you just need to overcome that.

- They were arguing about a word yesterday and it was like, it might have been like guarantee or something, and they were like, is it guarantee? Guarantee or guarantee? And they're like, oh, it's guarantee. And it was just like, I don't know what the word was, but-- - It's the we-- - It was like, what are you two doing, come on. - It's the bees. - But they are brilliant. - Yeah. - I love 'em. - Yeah. - All right, I'm coming over for dinner. What food are you gonna cook me? - Ooh, you know what, scallops.

- Scallops? - Yeah. - All right, so we hate mussels. You're very inconsistent. Hate mussels, love scallops, love oysters. - Oh no, yeah, like all the other seafood, I just think mussels are smelly. - Mussels, yeah, are you going to the ocean to find raw mussels? - Yes, there's a reason no raw mussel, no, but scallops. - Scallops, yeah. - Yeah, this is what we would cook. My partner and I dive, we live down in Macrae. - Amazing. - And we dive just, oh, this is a bit of a secret. - Yeah, go on. - Don't tell anyone at home about that.

- No, I won't tell anyone. - We dive off the beach in Macrae for scallops. - Amazing. - You can get a bucket per person, which we would never need. - You need to tell me this spot. - Yeah, Macrae Beach, just five knot markers. - Genuinely. - Mm-hmm, it's scallop, start of scallop season now. - Amazing. - Yeah, so, and then we cook 'em up, bit of garlic, butter, salt, pepper, chef's kiss. - A bit of lemon in there. Pick three people to join us for dinner. Who's coming, who's coming to enjoy some scallops? And alive or dead, anyone?

- Yeah, I can't believe I was about to ask. - Literally anyone. - Elvis. - Oh, good. - Yeah, Freddie Mercury. - Great. - Mm, oh, Michael Jackson. - Phenomenal. - Can you imagine that dinner? - Yeah, that'd be something else. There's some eccentric personalities, thank you very much. - Yeah. - Dream travel destination. - Dream, as in haven't been there? - Haven't been there, yep. - I don't know, somewhere exotic. I would love to go to Africa, actually. - Amazing, any particular part? - No, I would actually be happy going anywhere, and even outside of Africa.

Oh, yeah, I'm all about that. - Just get on a plane somewhere. - Yep, experience the culture. - Perfect, favorite place in the world? - Where I have been, Solomon Islands. - Amazing. If you could teach everyone in the world one thing, what would it be? - Food is medicine. - Good. Back to the other podcast, get around it. Perfect day off, what does it look like? - Mm, okay. Wake up after a very refreshed sleep. I'd probably wake up with the sunrise, 'cause that would just feel great. - Amazing. - Have a little moment where I set my intention for the day, which is always be productive and be positive.

- Good, think about it, what am I gonna do today? Let's go with what's happened the last 500 days. - Get up, get some sunshine on my skin, have a really yummy brekkie, probably go to a nice cafe, local cafe for a beautiful cooked brekkie. - Perfect. - What else, go out on a boat, dive for scallops. - Good. - Go for a skurf, my partner and I love skurfing behind the boat, I just hang for that in summer. - Awesome. - See some dolphins. - Did you just buy a boat? - Oh, yeah, oh, God.

- Yeah, we bought a second boat. - Yes. - It's 43 foot. - That's a big boat. - Old Italian. - Amazing. - Boat, it's gorgeous, it's effed up. It's like previously been submerged underwater, so it's covered in mold and does not run. - So you gotta fix it up. - But it's gonna be a huge restoration project. - That's awesome. - So you know what, we'd work on the boat. - Yep. - We'd work on my Land Rover, 'cause we both were restoring two old Land Rovers. - Jealous. - His is now finished. - Yes, yours is in.

- Wild is still going, so I really want that up and running. - Beautiful. - Hang out with my nephew, 'cause like he is just the best part of my day. - Awesome. - And yeah, just chill, friends, family, see my little greyhound. - Sounds like a good day. - Yeah. - Couple of firsts, first car? - Toyota Yaris. - Good, first job? - Mackers. - Mackers, hey, Mackers seem like, most people that started at Mackers are doing wonderful things now. - I think Mackers gives you a lot of stepping stones and teaches you about a lot of procedures.

- Systems, process. - Yeah, but I still always am a little bit like, ugh, that I worked there. - Yeah. - So, I don't know. - Hey, it's all part of the story. First concert. - I think it was, I don't know what it was called, but it was Down at Secuil to Fall Short and Killing Heidi were playing. - Killing Heidi. - And I loved Killing Heidi. - Shout out to Killing Heidi. - Yeah, right? And we just parked, like street parking, and when we hopped out, this hippie van, I pulled up on the

nature strip and then Killing Heidi and the band members hopped out, and I was like, I would've maybe been like five or six years old, and I was like, oh, oh my god, it's so cool. - That's awesome. Dream concert? And I might know your answer based off your dinner. - Anyone going to, yeah, our dinner party. Probably Michael Jackson for the dance moves, but then you could say Elvis for the jiggle, or I don't know, any. - Mine would have to be Freddie Mercury. This is not about me, but Freddie Mercury, just show me queen in their heyday.

- Yeah. - Anyway, so good. What's your pet hate? - Complainers. - There we go. At least hey, you're consistent, I like it. Do you, what teams or sports do you follow? Anything? - No, I don't really follow that much these days. I used to be Collingwood Fanatic. Oh, there you go. But, yeah, no, I've sort of-- - Just take out that first bit, just Collingwood Fanatic. - Yeah, there you go. - And I know this is an ambiguous question, but I like, what's the first thing that comes in your head whenever you've failed and learned from it?

- Oh, relationships. - Love that. - Yeah, yep. - What did you want to be when you were a kid? - I wanted to be a singer and dancer. Then I wanted to be a lifeguard. I'd still have a life to do that at some point. - A lifeguard, yeah, good. Just go sit at McRae Beach and point people in directions. Hey, stay away from my scallops. - And then probably radio host. I didn't do any of them. - Play on. This is kind of like I've been on the radio. What's your worst habit? - Oh, I hate getting petrol.

My car, I would be lucky. If I didn't get petrol on the way home from here, I'm gonna call you to come get me. - It's one of those things that it's like, when you have to do it, it sucks. 'Cause it's just time and money, and especially at the moment. - I make it so much worse in my head. - Yeah, you just gotta go. - So it's not a big deal, but I really live life on the edge when it comes to, yeah. - Are you gonna fill up completely each, like, once every couple of weeks, and then wait 'til there's three litres left and go again?

- I fill up completely, and then when the nozzle switches off, I just hope that it never comes back at me. - Just give you another couple of Ks on the other end. Smart. What do you wish every one of your patients knew? - Food is medicine. Did we say this? - Yeah, we've been consistent. - God, I'm drilling it. - I like being consistent. What are the two most used apps on your phone? - Probably Spotify. I use that for music and podcasts. I don't use any other podcast app. And then, you know what, probably, there's an app called Insight Timer.

You familiar with that? - Yeah, it's phenomenal. - I use it for the nighttime guided meditations, and that would have to be the most used, 'cause it goes for a long time in the night. But yeah, I really like that. - Now, I want a different answer to what you gave me in the main episode, but give me your most controversial opinion. - Ah, I did give that, didn't I? That's hard. - Give me something that's gonna make people angry. - Yeah, that's what I don't wanna do. I think a big part, oh, no. - Go on, go on.

- I think, oh, God, lucky. I think, unfortunately, there's a big part of medicine, which is based on disease management. - Yeah, I mean, that's why it exists, right? - Yeah. - I try to make me feel better, but people will be like, "Fuck you, Katie." But I just, yeah, I'm all about prevention. - Yeah, doctors exist to treat sick people. - Yeah, yeah. - And I've had this conversation with a few friends that are doctors and surgeons, and that is the industry, right? It's an industry that exists to heal and make money. - Yeah,

yeah, and I think because I see that every single day with so many people that have sort of been guided in the wrong direction because of it, that's why it grinds my gears. - And it's not a blanket rule, this is a disclaimer. - No, I'm gonna cut out the disclaimer. - But yeah, it does move me right along. - I mean, yeah, I mean, we could talk about this forever, but I think it's one of those things where we look at doctors and the healthcare system as the complete picture, where it's not. It's that's the fixing.

- That's the worst end of it, yeah. - You spoke about health, I think, in the podcast around being more than just levels and baselines and actually being able to thrive rather than just being in the, yeah, you're functioning as a human. We need to be doing good things. - The average sick person. - Anyway, we'll move on. - Let's go. - We talked about it in the podcast. What are you currently watching? - Mm, I'm watching, it's a couple of shows. There's this messed up series on Disney that my partner and I found, and it's heavily religious about a Mormon family, and murders, and it's very insightful and twisted.

And yeah, it's kind of a bit dark, but interesting. And then I'm also watching Life After Death with a Hollywood medium. - Yeah, fascinating. - Oh, you have to, give it a chance. - I might jam, but I might give it a chance. - Give it a go, don't be sceptic. Just open that mind. - We'll dive back in a couple of podcasts. - It's fascinating. - What do you suck at? - Golf. (laughing) Used to be badminton as well, but I've improved those skills, so just golf now. - Do you play golf often? - No, never, I can't, I'd like to.

- There you go. - I used to work at a lot of golf events, and it was kind of like the running track, hmm, let's get Katie to hit the ball. Like, I can't even hit the ball, I just take chunks out of the ground. - Virtus golf day in a month, get there. - Yeah. - Favorite quote? You can say nature is, food is medicine. - Okay. - Go on. - If you were me, 'cause you're the king of quotes, can you be me, what would my favorite quote be? - Oof. - 'Cause I don't have any in my memory bank.

- Yeah, well, you hate complainers, right? So. - Don't drain and complain. - It would be something along the lines of like, becoming clear on what is within your control and what is the outside of your control and focusing on that. I don't have a well articulated one, but we'll get there. Do you have a morning routine? Well, you kind of mentioned it before. - That's the ideal morning routine, yeah. Is it consistent? No, but in a perfect world, yeah, I think it's important. You think you feel your best when you wake up naturally with

the sunlight and you don't look at your phone immediately, but you sort of set your mindset for the day on what's important, so yeah, I think that's really helpful. - What's the most impactful piece of advice you've been given? - My partner always tells me to back myself. - Great advice. - Back yourself and be consistent. - Yeah, yeah. - Awesome. Rome was built in the day. They're still building it. Why are you a naturopath? - I'm fascinated by it. I love always learning more about it and I love to teach, so it encompasses those few aspects that I enjoy.

- Awesome. - Yeah. - Two more questions. - Yeah, already. - Who in your world would make a great guest for this podcast? - My partner, who's got the world all figured out. - Yeah? - Who's got hilarious opinions. - Let's lock that in. - Last one. What happens when we die? - Everyone would say nothing, so let's not say nothing. Okay, so when you die, fuck, I don't know. You go, you, that's hard. - It is hard. - You just sound really corny to say that you go to a better place. - Maybe. - If you give yourself of everything and you learn your lessons and you hold no ill harbor, anything, yeah, I don't know, nothing.

- That's one way of doing it. Thank you for coming on the Quick Fire 30. Get around the main podcast, it was exceptional. - Thank you, appreciate it. - It was amazing.

The podcast is the philosophy. The floor is where it happens.
