All right, it's quick fire 30 time. We're here with Jess. Just did a ripper hour of podcasting goodness. Heaps of value. So if you haven't listened already, why the fuck not? Sort it out. All right, Jess, nicknames. Jess. Wow. Real good start. Favourite foods? I don't have any. Favourite foods. Salmon. Salmon. Salmon. At the moment. Salmon and sweet potato. Sweet potato with cinnamon on top. Love a good, love a bit of cinnamon. Favourite movies? How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. What's your summary of that movie? How do you lose a guy in 10 days?

Needy, clingy, whiny. Don't do that. Favourite music? At the moment I am obsessed with a duo called the Dregs. Dregs. We love the Dregs. Dregs get a pump and invert us every now and again. Favourite books? At the moment I am reading Untamed. Oh yeah? Good. Summary so far? Probably not far enough in, but from what I've read so far, just live your life. Put that on a t-shirt. Favourite podcasts? Veritas Podcast. Not let us say the Veritas Podcast. But I love the pandering that we're getting lately with that question. Keep it up. Favourite podcast? At the moment, who have I been listening to?

I've been listening to a lot of Aubrey Marcus' podcasts lately. He's gone a bit off the ledge for me. Yeah, he's very woo woo. But I like it because a lot of the other things I'm learning about at the moment are very scientific. So it's a good balance. Good shift. Awesome. I'm coming over for dinner. You're cooking me salmon? Yeah. You're my new air fryer. Air fried salmon and you can invite three people alive or dead ever who's coming to dinner with us. Oh, that's a good one. Oprah Winfrey. You get some salmon, you get some salmon.

Everybody gets some salmon. She would have so much life experience that I would love to speak about. Awesome. Barack Obama. Nice. Yeah, I want to know what a day in the life is like. Have you read his book? No. Phenomenal. I need to. Maybe him and Michelle. Maybe both of them because it would be really interesting to hear from her perspective as well. Awesome. And apparently her book is incredible. Wasn't as gripping for mine as Barack's but phenomenal. Favourite place in the world? Edinburgh, Scotland. Yeah. Or Venice Beach, California. Phenomenal. Phenomenal travel destination. So somewhere you haven't been and you're like, that's on the bucket list.

The Maldives. Awesome. If you teach everyone in the world one thing, what would it be? A growth mindset. Explain a growth mindset because actually I meant to ask you this question in the main podcast but for the uninitiated, what is a growth mindset? In the simplest form and in my own personal opinion, it is being open to grow and taking responsibility for your life. So realising that there are things that you can do and action and take control of that can improve your skillset and mindset and situation. Awesome. Versus being at victim to your life and circumstances.

Which was a big part of our chat just before so get around it. Mindset by Carol Dweck if you want to dive into that phenomenal book. Perfect day off. What does it look like? Coffee in the morning. Tick. Lots of really good food. Relaxation, beach, sunshine, movement, some doing anything, going for a walk in the sun, something outdoors in nature and then watching the sunset on the beach with a glass of rosé. Lock that in. First car? Oh, it was a Daihatsu Syrian that I crashed and totaled. That does not surprise me. How long into owning that Daihatsu did you crash it?

Very long. It would have been maybe a year and a half and it was a complete shit box. I think I got it for $2,000. Was it someone else or are you taking responsibility or was it on you? Oh, it was fully on me. First job? KFC. Oh, yes. Love that. Can you tell us the 11 herbs and spices? No, but we used to. We used to have a basketball ring, a little basketball ring at the back of the door and throw, this is so dumb. We used to throw chicken in the basketball ring and see who could get it in.

We then obviously throw the chicken away, but looking back now it's such a waste. Yeah, what a waste chicken and sweet, sweet, delicious 11 herbs and spices. Secret recipe chicken as well. First sporting team that you either followed or played for? Collingwood Football Club. Yes. Great answer. First concert? Ooh. Or live music experience? Gosh, I don't remember. The first one that's coming to mind that I don't think is the first, but we'll go with it. Katy Perry. You'd love that song. You just so vibe on that song, wouldn't you? Yeah. Very white girl. Dream concert? If you could see anyone in the world alive or dead, who would it be?

Concert? I would love to see Beyonce live. I know that's a very basic answer, but I think she would be incredible live. Don't disagree. What's your pet hate? People complaining. It's been consistent theme of our guests of late. Tell me a particular time in your life when you failed and learned from it. Can't use the TikTok example that you used in your main episode. Yeah. What other big failures have I had? A few. I had to repeat nearly a whole semester of my undergraduate sports science degree due to personal reasons, but it was a very

big failure that I learned from because at the time, so long story short, at the time my uncle passed away and I was just devastated beyond, beyond grief. So then didn't show up to any of my exams, didn't do any assignments at the very, I was so close to finishing. And then that happened and rocked my world and I just didn't show up and then had to repeat a whole semester, which was so rough. And at the time I didn't have capacity to deal with it, but all I needed to do was submit special consideration and do the forms, but that capacity just didn't like back then.

It's a good nudge to like, the lesson is like, ask for help when things aren't going well. Yeah. So learnt that six months, six months the hard way. Yeah. Some of these lessons need to be long and expensive. What did you want to be when you were a kid? An actress. Cool. Pick an actress, current modern day actress, who would you have been like? What kind of roles would you be? Kate Hudson. I would start opposite Matthew McConaughey in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Your worst habit. Toxic positivity. No. Worst habit. This is a tough one because it's in my opinion of what my worst habit is, whereas other people would potentially think differently.

I think, actually I set my alarm multiple times in five minute increments and if I snooze through the first one, like on a couple of occasions, it's woken up my housemate like an hour later that I've just, it's right next to my head and the alarm is just going off. I love that. And then I've woken up to a text message being like, "Jess, your alarm." And it would have been going off for the last hour. Surely if your alarm's not woken up, the text message ain't doing much. Jeez. What do you wish every Virtus. member knew?

Maybe just the importance of community and utilising the community for when you need. It is so helpful for happiness and joy. And contributing it to it when you don't need it because other people need you. Yes. The two most used apps on your phone? Instagram. What else am I using at the moment? I want to say Instagram and probably Instagram and Dick Doc. You use social media, butterfly you. What's your most controversial opinion? Like, I want pitchforks. Ooh. Most controversial opinion. This is hard. Most controversial opinion. For those playing at home, just think about yours while we figure it out.

The answer generally isn't more information. Ooh. Love that. What are you currently listening to? Does the music or books or what? If you just whack some headphones in or chuck the radio on or whatever, what's coming out at you? At the moment, I curated a musicals playlist. Love that. That is more hype than anything. And that's been blasting quite a lot to get me into the state that I need to be. If you want access to that podcast, @coachjustryan on Insta, hit me up. What are you currently watching? Gilmore Girls. Good. What do you suck at?

Ooh. Dick Doc. Favourite quote? Everything I can think of is cliche. Cliches are cliches for a reason. Favourite quote at the moment, "Just show up." Good. It's a pretty consistent potty lately. Good. Really like that. Do you have a morning routine? Yes, I do. Summarise it in 20 seconds for us. Go. Wake up, meditate, make the bed, brush teeth, and then generally some form of coffee, which probably isn't recommended. It's recommended. I would recommend it. It's good for the soul. I don't know why you've got four steps before the most important thing. Anyway, what's the most impactful piece of advice you've been given?

Impactful piece of advice. I can't think of a specific, but just the notion of you have the power to choose. Good. Really, really good. Why are you a coach? I really enjoy and get a lot of value out of helping people grow and realise they can do things that they are potentially limiting themselves on. I like expanding people's awareness and worldview. Phenomenal. Who in your world would make a great guest for this podcast? Get Simon Cooper back on. We did one a couple of weeks ago. No one wants to hear more Simon Cooper, except for me.

No one wants to hear more Simon Cooper, more than me. Get him. This will be controversial for you. You'll talk some shit about it. I would love to hear a podcast of Grant Rogers and his business ventures. Fuck that guy. We'll get him back on. We've done a couple with him. Last question for you. What happens when we die? What happens? Hopefully, we've left the world a better place. Love that. Jess, love your work. Have a good day.

The podcast is the philosophy. The floor is where it happens.
