Beautiful people, we are back here with Greg Day, the Fizz, for the Quickfire 30. Bit of a deep dive into the Fizz and his favourite things and what he likes and how he believes about things. Ooh, there he is. First question for you, nicknames? Started with Gregoire, French, shortened to 'wah', convinced even slightly longer to 'guah'. Gua. Gua. Daisy has been used. Daisy. Good, I like that. Fizz. Fizz would like a morning flower. Correct. Fizz, obviously. DJ Fizzalicious, DJ Fizzy Rascal. That's my favourite one, I think. DJ Fizzy Rascal, DJ Hui Fung, which was related to the time in China.

Batman, the instigator. But, Batman was self... Does that count? Oh, costume party related. Oh yeah, play on. Gave it 'Gasselgauf'. It was a 'G' party. This is gonna be Quickfire 1, we've got one question. And the instigator. Give me the cliff notes on the instigator. I initiated most of the parties in the officer's mess in Germany in the year of 2005. Great nickname. Favourite books? Power of Now, Way of the Peaceful Warrior. Dan Millman. There Are No Ordinary Moments. There Are No Ordinary Moments is another great one of his. I think the Celestine prophecy goes very high as well.

Up there. Thanks for giving me that book. Favourite foods? I love a Vietnamese 'foh'. Fuh? Foh. Apologies to Steph and Leanne for the pronunciation. Favourite movie? Dead Poets Society holds the longest place in my heart as favourite movies. Current favourite movies, I think There'll Be A Couple Once is a little known musical out of Ireland. About a guitarist and his songwriting and his search for love. So that's a great show. Very good show. I thought I and This Guy was also five stars ahead of it. Favourite music? To Go To. To Go To? What's your go to?

What is your go to music? To Go To or To Watch, Listen At Home? I've been sucking up a bit of country recently as well as Aussie pub classics. If I was to go country, I'd flick on some Lady Antebellum. Which is now called Lady A, related to the change in name from the use of the word 'antebellum' to infer slavery. So that's if I was going country. If I was going rock, I'd be Aussie pub classics. Love that. But then sometimes I'll go some Led Zeppelin. Have you and Mitch connected over your love for country music yet?

A little bit. Good. Country music and scotch. Perfect. Perfect combo. Favourite podcasts? You got a couple of good ones. John Richardson and the Future Noughts stands out. I've listened to every episode twice at least. Which is unheard of. I've never heard of it. That's why it's unheard of. Well you heard. I have heard of it twice. I'm coming home for dinner. What are you cooking for me? Baked salmon. You happy with that? Roast veggies. Yeah, good. There you go. Perfect. Me, obviously I'm included in this, but add three more people. Anyone, anywhere, any time period, who would you invite over?

For dinner. Rhett Larson. Good. It's me and you Rhett. We've got two other people. Lee Baines. Good. Sejal Vartenberg. Good. Get around the Counter Poison podcast by the way. Correct. Alright, favourite place in the world? Home. Perfect. Dream travel destination. So somewhere you haven't been. Loire Valley in France. Good. Yeah, food, wine, cycling routes. Sounds horrible. Yeah, it's horrible. Well said. If you could teach everyone in the world one thing, what would it be? Meditation. Good. Perfect day off, what does it look like? Bike ride, couple of walks with Angus, some really nice fresh lunch, a hearty dinner, glass of wine.

Perfect. Yeah, quiet night in and earlier bed. Love that. It's just simple things. Simple things, it's where the magic happens. Simple things that make you wake up the next day appreciating the day before. Yes, it's a good place to be. First car? Holden Gemini SLX. Colour? Maroon. Next car? Skoda Octavia RS245. Oh, are you picking it up? Tomorrow. Oh, amazing. First job? Cleaning a school. Oh. Yeah, cleaning the bin shed and the yards of a primary school. Good will hunting kind of vibes? Humble beginnings. Not good will hunting. I didn't solve any math problems because it was 4.30 in the morning and bitterly cold.

No one had written anything on the board yet. Bitterly cold and I wanted to ride my bicycle home to get home before I had to then go to school. Play on. First sporting team to either follow or play for? Essendon Bombers. Followed. Didn't play for them. Played for the St Brendan's primary school football team. Love that. Dream concert? Ben Harper. Anywhere. Good. First concert? B52s in Melbourne. Oh, love shack. What's your pet hate? Absence of gratitude. I like that. Yeah, I had to choose one. Hey, that's a good one. Which teams and sports do you follow?

What do you pay attention to? Currently watching Tour de France as a sport. Teams do I follow? Liverpool Football Club and the English Premier League. And so those two. Get around Mo Salah? Yeah. Have you... Get around his bank balance? Yeah. Not bad. When's a specific moment in your life that you can remember back to that you failed and learned from it and that shaped the person you are today? It was one week out from the stall gift and I was competing in a professional track sprinting event over 550 metres and I was entered into

the stall carnival over that same distance and I was in career best form and my foot, a bone in my foot broke with about 200 metres to go. Oh. And that was the end of my sprint racing career. I guess I learned a lot of lessons from that. Brilliant. Well, not brilliant that you broke a foot, brilliant that you learned from it and then we carried on, right? What did you want to be when you were a kid? A vet. Young Fizz, a vet. Actually, we did dive into that story a little bit in episode two of the Virtus podcast back in the day, so rewind, you guys will find it.

Your worst habit? I don't have any. You're pretty perfect. Worst habit? That's a good question. I'd like to say that I've weaned out any habits that don't contribute to me or to others, so that's why I'm struggling to think of one. It doesn't make me perfect by any means, it just means I can't think of one. Worst habit would be not always drinking enough water, but that's even being weaned out. It's clean. It's cold. It's cold. And that's what I call high quality A2O. A weekly reminder to stay hydrated. What's your most controversial opinion? People are the worst.

This was almost the podcast topic for last week, but lucky we are, it wasn't. What do you wish every Virtus member knew about training, life, anything? What do I wish every Virtus member knew or were aware of? This kind of fits with the very last question that you're going to ask me, because I'm a predictor of the future and I know what the last question is going to be. What I wish every Virtus member knew is that you don't throw out the gold just because the bag that's holding it is dirty. Oh, good. Looking forward to getting the last question.

Might make some up a little bit. It's the same answer. The two most used apps on your phone? Messages. Smart. For text messages. Makes sense. I mean, the most boring of all, which would be the phone. Good. Does that count as an app? I guess it does. You've got to call people some way. Yeah. So play on. Yeah. What are you currently listening to? If you have 20 minutes at home tonight, what are you listening to? If I've got 20 minutes, I will listen to a section of the Ask a Cycling Coach podcast hosted by TrainerRoad full of extraordinarily interesting things to me at this point in time as I train for a charity cycling event.

Grand Fondue. Not Fandue, Fondue. Although that's typical because the Tour de France did recently cycle through Switzerland, the home of Fondue. There you go. Very typical. What are you currently watching? TV, movies? Killing Eve. Killing Eve. Give us a summary. MI6 Britain trying to track down an assassin. The assassin finds out the name of the person who leads up the unit trying to track her down, so therefore it's a bit of who's going to get who first. Brilliant. Which training service? Stan. Stan. Get around Stan. What do you suck at? FIFA. Dice. What do I suck at?

Making millions. Good. Favourite quote? Don't throw out the goal just because the bag that's holding it is dirty. Good. Do you have a morning routine? Yeah, the morning routine is do a weigh in, feed the animals, drink water, not necessarily in that order, walk the cat and/or dog, usually walk the cats first, have coffee, have coffee first, walk the cats, have a second coffee, get sorted and walk Angus, and have breakfast somewhere there as well. You're not a chuck the cats on the lead, walk them around the park kind of humanoid. Backyard. On a lead. Good.

KP would have said, "Why can't we walk Taco?" if you'd said yes. Most impactful piece of advice you've been given or received in some way, shape or form? Learn how to meditate. Good. Because the impact is huge. And going back to the gold thing, I think if you've got a dirty bag, it's holding a lot of gold. I think it relates to the fact that shitty things will happen to your life, but there's a lot of lessons and you don't want to touch the dirty bag anymore and you want to throw it away, but just remember that sometimes there's gold in there.

Perfect. Why are you a physio? Because I couldn't get into vet. And while I was trying to get into vet doing the course that they said, "You've got to do this course before you go and do vet," I was learning about the human body. So I just rolled with it. Nice little... Our world's richer for you having taken that left turn. Appreciate it. Who in your world would make a great guest on this podcast? Brett Larson. Get him on. Last question. What happens when we die? We spend time somewhere else and ellipse, dot, dot, dot. In another dimension, maybe.

Who knows? Good for you. No one knows except those that are there, if they're there. Cue long silence to think about it. If people want to find you, follow you, do all that kind of stuff, where do they do those things? Instagram's pretty easy. Just look for my name. And, as you know, the circle of sources emanates from it. Correct. Or Spotify, DJ Fizzalicious. Good. Good, Fizz. Thank you. See you next week.

The podcast is the philosophy. The floor is where it happens.
