wasn't playing football and and coaching and doing all those kind of things and we had a pretty cool environment and we had a bit of fun together back in the day so it's been cool to follow Richard's journey over the last eight or nine years since that time he's been doing a whole heap of cool shit basically to put it to put it lightly Richard is a Australian world record holding adventurer he's done a whole heap of big long runs trail runs the longest being about five and a half thousand K's another one being a

couple of thousand K's another one being a thousand kilometer one thousand and nine to be exact a thousand nine kilometer one in Israel so yeah there's a there's a bit to talk about today so we got stuck right in I hope you guys enjoy it if you do please reach out to Richard to myself he also does a whole lot of motivational speaking motivational keynote we talked about motivation and inspiration a little bit throughout the podcast so yeah he does a whole heap of speaking for a bunch of big businesses he's featured on sky and

CNN and sunrise and seven news and a whole heap of cool stuff like that so yeah let's get stuck in my personal and business goal is to be just a little bit better every day I believe everyone especially normal people have a story to tell the vertice podcast exists to help us all find small ways of consistent improvement by discussing the journey and experiences of each of our guests people want mistakes I did I was in a video for a time today I was walking through Melbourne and the guy was walking about with his crowds

yeah deliver this bit of a workshop things then and I can the cameraman fucking bumped in the thing and he was like and he says I'll switch obviously keep it rolling yeah grow up and just adapt to the situation right and he kept we kept it in there so it sounds really good people can love it yeah you got trips over and he's like fuck well it's real right yeah cuz then there's no I just like I used it as an angle I just went we're talking about adaptability now's the time for dad man get

up Richard welcome to the podcast right here you go it's good to fucking see ya whoa I love it it's been a while bomb 7 a.m. I know I know is that Jackson because you have a little is this is this normal for you a little secret recipe that you yeah mate not a not even a little bit so here's the deal when we come in here for a podcast Oh people will notice the gin shelf and notice the bookshelf and I'll off the cuff say do you want a gin and if people say yes and it's go time regardless of the time of day yeah it's 7 p.m.

as far as everyone else knows the days whatever time of day you're listening to this I like it first question for you what gets you out of bed in the morning that's a that's not a hard question that's a hard thing to do I don't care who you are yeah but it's for me that is really really tough I think look what gets you out of bed in the morning I mean it's a it's a it's a good question I mean sometimes I wonder if I should bother because life is tough for the better yeah

understand like you know it's I feel like sometimes I get punched in the face every single day so then you can see why people said what's the point again up I love life actually like being alive good you know as much as I get pushed in the base I like that I think that keep that keep keeps you alive at times now it keeps you honest but to answer sometimes it's a bit meaningful or sometimes I feel like I need to be meaningful and someone asked that question I guess for me look it's um I'm

all about achievement massively hence what I've done I've done yeah but for me just like to be the best at something if you ask me why I can't really explain why yeah that I really like to just be get up get on with it cheap the best day ever the best week ever the best month ever the best year ever and I that that achievement is so high up though I don't think I'll ever reach it but that's what it's meant to me I just need I just need that achievement why do you want to

do that why is it so pointy and that's I think the answer to that is is that people often talk about how important a Y is in your life and I feel that if you can articulate your why that's probably not enough because well why why sometimes some of the things I've done which was we're going to speak about today sometimes I this Y is not gonna help me get it good at the morning why isn't gonna help me move forward it just isn't yeah so I think you need to get bit one one step

deeper than that and I think I said before I have to I have to do this I need to do it and needs a really interesting word because you know if you need to do something that's really you can say a bit right we could but it needs a motive right yeah and a motive is a need to take action so you have to do it so it's kind of like well you have to breathe do you think you have so if you can get get to a point where you just need to do whatever

it is you have to do then you don't think of the excuse you don't see the excuses you know don't even enter your brain you just do it I mean that's a long way to answer your question maybe I'll just take a massive gulp of this gin and then we'll get yeah that'll get you rolling so those punches in the face what do you mean elaborate I think we all have decision points every day about to call them shotgun moments yeah and I call shot with moments because I've actually had a shotgun stuff in my

mouth Jesus yeah I mean that's that's that's deep to seven I am isn't it good way to start the day yeah and when you've got a shotgun to about shotgun and stuff in your mouth with an angry farmer under the end of it saying I'm gonna blow you your brains out yeah I mean that comes back to that why right why I mean you'd want to run it that probably interestingly crystallizing moment yeah in your life now that's a string but I think we all have shotgun moments every single day and it's just a decision

point right yeah do you decide to step forward do you start to step back do you go to the side and take a longer route do you run run away with tell between your legs do you give up all all together and that's what a lot of people do at times I'm not literally talking a shock but I mean there's those decision points every single day every month every month should I do this maybe I should do this I'm scared of this yeah I can't be bothered to do this there's all those those things and

they're they're the shotgun moments where you know you've got that shotgun in your face and you decide what you're gonna do about that there and then yeah so yeah I mean that's that's what it is you got you gonna make it you just gonna make a decision and that's the best the punches in the face that's what I'm talking about yeah so those decisions right they're all like those moments they're all pretty relative like some people have a shotgun moment it's the biggest thing in the world and to you or someone that's been through a

lot of adversity and tough times those shotgun moments are just something you deal with what are the ways that you I guess work through it when you get punched in the face you've got a whole bunch of stuff yeah yeah it's a whole whole bunch of different things for that so I um well maybe we should tell these people what I've done because it's hard to talk about it's hard to talk about sometimes my strategies and the tools and I guess some insight let's give the humans some context when I'm not in what I'm not

in context yet because all the people go what who are you haha Richard Bowles good one and only and I'm not related to Camilla Parker Bowles no oh she's married to Prince Charles oh yeah yeah so I do it I'm actually a little bit pissed as I cuz I think anybody to the wedding yeah and you should have said a strongly worded letter I think about it yeah but then I'm kind of glad I'm not related to her because she's probably could be friends made relatives yeah that's all mad I so my claim to find

if you want to call it that yeah he's a ran mountain trails that span entire nations it's insane so the smallest trial I've ran across a man range is a thousand and nine kilometers yeah and that nine extra kilometers is is definitely I have to say but I was probably relatively tough that part is at the end and the longest I've done is almost five and a half thousand kilometers so really magic trails self-supported so I have to carry all my own stuff I run on average 85 kilometers a day which is two marathons back

back to back support to pull that into perspective that's like running from Frankston to the melon CBD and back again in one day but you throw a few mountains in there snow-capped mountains river crossing yeah you know crocodile festive rivers missiles in the mid the Middle East the guy of the shotgun which you mentioned before definitely and I guess the easiest way to sum it up and I think CNN probably did this the best they said Richard Bowles is a hybrid of Forrest Gump meets Bear Grylls and I hate it because I'm guessing whatever that

love child is yeah we love job that's a weird look I hate the term because obviously most people have seen them you just want to be Richard Bowles right yeah and of course everybody's seen the movie Forrest Gump right it's not that small Bear Grylls is really intelligent well Bear Grylls I don't mind so much because he's English and I'm English he's an adventurer and I guess I'm an adventurer and he's kind of muscular good-looking and you know you get you have a point yeah you're fairly muscular good-looking exactly but the thing is he's famous

for drinking like his own way and you know sorts of weeds I'm not that guy just know it could be I could be but I'm not like that I am just Richard Bowles yeah like let's go back to like early on how did how does one get to the point where they're standing at the side of a five and a half K five and a half thousand kilometer trail and going I'm gonna run these do you want the thought process that goes into that or do you want to kind of how do you get to

a level where you're able to run too much yeah give me give me that level and then we'll talk about the thought process and the mindset stuff you in some ways you get there by accident but you actually don't get that right but um so I actually started I mean I I've been in Australia 19 years this year so I'm like I'm Australian and I completely don't like it at all and I always I didn't do any any kind of exercise at all really really yeah I've been I've traveled through South America for eight months

on the way to come and live here in Australia and a whole bunch of traveling before before that did it some bunch of long-distance hiking through Patagonia and stuff I guess that got me kind of interested in more in the out outdoors yeah and I found myself trying to do those trails as quick as I could hiking they're trying to do as quick so they said well this is a four-day track after I'm gonna do three yeah then when I got to Australia I was through myself in a corporate sales career I did quite well

but there's a whole bunch of eating a drink and it goes with that yeah and I just blow out biggest I've ever been so if I need to do some about this so I didn't get a personal trainer yeah living the same curve at the time running around I know every time I drive by drive past the light now but that was torture yeah but you know you got got this guy got me shape and he said you should go do a fun run but fun fun and run together interesting - yeah absolutely so I

entered myself into 5k fun run that she did all right kind of enjoy such a quite fun okay I'm quite fit now says this is all right so this early on when you're in Australia so this is why I had a nine years ago yeah yeah yeah long long long time back to comment exact dates my yeah so I yeah and I did no one for the 5k and then I found this then I did 10k and I found myself actually come in kind of top 20 it's like wow no that is a driver fuck

it's fat did what was a kind of a fatty kind of guy I've got no professional background in running and stuff and then it kind of sounds a place so I think a bit more seriously type of training a bit more seriously and that's not a place in top five in fun runs no big dealings it's fun yeah so I thought I'll take a coaching course in running and I'll learn all the tricks and maybe this is maybe this is the Korea right yeah no he wasn't but what what happened was basically went from five

to ten ten to fifteen the half marathon the marathon the usual progression in running stuff I remember the first marathon I did people said to me a marathon would change your life I remember when I cross over the finish line I was massively disappointed because I felt my life was exactly the same yeah there's not until I look back now and go I actually did change my life because from that moment there I went on to do some bigger distances I was running the mountains doing ultra marathons competitively yeah I got sponsored and stuff and

then I moved moving into my own kind of projects and putting these big projects together yeah and that's ultimately how I ended up on that's insane that's it's a cool progression that because a lot of people like do the fun runs right and love that and maybe do a 10 maybe do a half like she would do a marathon and go you know what there's more okay what's next like yeah what what was the was it just a natural thing progressing up the distances from like a marathon to an ultra or was it something that

you like you know obviously achievement being something that's so achievement is what it's about yeah you know cuz even now I look back on some of the stuff I've done like I ran five and a half thousand kilometers I've never really recognized it as a like oh I did that so even today like I go to organizations and you know businesses and stuff now speak speak what's want to do now we say that and it's got some weight to it yeah but I just don't go just you know and I like the fact that I

don't take it too seriously if you like because I feel it keeps me humble I like to think it gives me a bit more humble at the same time people go to me man you've done some like you know even acknowledged how the shit you've done and I think that's why I did so many long since trials like that because it like actually the first one I did was the five and hot thousand the bison tennis travel strata the longest my transit water is the first one I picked that's cool and then I was like

oh that's not enough for to New Zealand I saw another Israel enough you know I mean just yeah no no no yeah that's the super cool is a like we'll talk about the ones you've done but is there one that's still in the back and still in the bucket list or still to come what like interestingly enough my next it's people let's not see Jerry most people ask that question so is the media when you've just crunched it across the finish line I asked you what's next just ran three thousand kilometers in the mountains and

in news oh what's next oh yeah yeah and I was in the fight that's what's next question is that what's interesting is like the reason I went to that question is because that drive to do something else is obviously fairly strong within you and it's so indicative yeah it's something like I can resonate with not to the running five and a half thousand kilometers level but I can resonate with that in wanting more but also like you seem like someone is very comfortable very happy with where you're at or very content with what you've done

but you're always looking forward as well yeah maybe not gonna work done I guess what it is yeah I'm not but I think you've to have like you appreciate what you've done maybe maybe yeah yeah but then there's what's next like it's not a I'm not gonna be not gonna sit there sit on your hands and go yeah I'm done now is that things drive to go to my things when you've done it though yeah I think that's how it's because I did it so it's just gonna like well yeah you know it's like it's

fair everyone else is oh wow tells about that so I want just did it so yeah I don't find it such a how long did you kind of plan them out the big ones well actually it's interesting because the ones later down the path path weren't really planned at all we have planned right and that's one of my one of my big things I think people spend too much time in planning mode and think sometimes just don't do it right so when you decide to go and run five and a half kilometers in the mountains

six months of your life yeah every day out there how do you how do you plan for that I mean logistically it's a nightmare yeah how do you train for that is another big question you can't like if you try for a marathon for example you will run probably 30 let's say anywhere between 30 and 38 kilometers yeah it's your longest run as you go through the training yeah which pretty much tells you you can run 42 kilometers if you can run 38 you can run 42 all right definitely but I can't go out there

and run 4,000 kilometers just to see if I could run five and a half that generally like yeah so it comes it comes to a point where you just go well I don't know if I can do it yeah but somehow I got sponsored and got funded and made some docos and got people up on board and I think that this comes down to that obviously self-belief yeah you know just just getting people to buy and crack right and just getting to the point where you probably tell yourself a million times to stop and you

just push through it the most interesting thing is about me is that running as far from my passion yeah in fact I sometimes questioned myself like what I enjoy this but what I do enjoy is the outcome yeah I enjoy the the achievement of the whole thing I think when you when you know what you want you'll put yourself through anything to go get it I think people have their goals a bit mixed up on that in what way well I think we go back to the very start we spoke about wise and stuff yeah

like why don't we don't run the longest much around the world to be the first person to do it yeah why but to be the to run the longest mark on the world why huge achievement why to be the fastest why to be recognized yeah big part of who I am yeah the whole bunch of reasons why but that's not going to help me get out doubted after day after day yeah and push through that uncomfortable yeah and that's what interests me is because I guess I I kind of look at goals and you've got

the process and you got the outcome do you find yourself able to detach from the outcome and just focus on the process is that kind of how you once it works yeah detached on the outcome because the thing is yeah the outcome or the goal is overwhelming yeah so if I'm doing five and a half thousand kilometers and you focus on that and if this set the second day I wake up in my tent and go fuck I still got four thousand four hundred and to me that's massive overwhelming so I can't focus on the

outcome yeah but at the same time I'm looking further than just the outcome so coming full circle here my wires are to be the first to blow blow blow blow yeah but you have to find a real purpose in there you'd find what is it that I I need out of this and for me it's all based on achievement so if I achieve this it has me confidence makes me feel this way it's not this moment this way you know and and the reason I say it makes me feel like this this is this because

I can't articulate it and I think if you can't articulate it you've got it yeah because it's just a feeling it's much like it's much like saying why do you love you chill you chill now you can say why yeah but it doesn't do any justice because you can't really explain it you just that's it's that thing yes and that's what drives me that's what gets mad about every day it's that it's that thing and when you've got that thing that is a lot my life with that moment that is like I'm either gonna do

this yeah or I'm gonna die trying to and to me that's a literally corner actually happened I've almost died doing some stuff I've done I've been rushed after emergency departments and fun infections and all sorts of crutches yeah and I love that Sam that analogy by Whipple Smith he said in an interview they said why are you so successful he says if you put me and another guy on a treadmill and one or two things gonna happen yeah he's he's gonna quit or I'm gonna die yeah so that's the mindset that's exactly what it is

that's not even a mindset that's just a feeling that's just that's that's so deep inside of that it's when you figure out what it is that you need not what you want and what you'd like what you hear is that innate or is that learn but yeah we all have it yeah I think the honest with yourself you really know what you want in your life yeah we need what is so many people struggle to figure it out though not gone well I think we I think we buy into this why idea I think that's

the why thing so we don't go deep enough I don't very deep enough and I think you need to keep asking yourself why why hmm so I think if you actually end up suffering of wise and you need to do this on on your own because you don't know honest with everybody else so you know I've sat down with some light top performing Bruce agents like guys only millions and millions of dollars a year yeah and if you ask them why they don't they do this up Ferrari don't do it all the reasons why be

said but why the Ferrari or why this and you keep asking why you keep jabbing and jabbing jabbing why and the guy finally starts to become honest and it's like well I want freedom I want security yeah and money happens to give them freedom and security but that's not what they're chasing if you get up in the morning you're fighting for your freedom to find for security yeah that's a matter why do you drive and just trying to chase the budget that's depressing yeah that's what happens to me every single morning so it makes me

jump out of bed in the morning is the fact that I go it's that it's that feel and yeah I don't think you can explain that not properly not not to give it justice I want you to try for me that that feeling is that something that you get to or is it something that you're forever chasing or is a bit of both no you won't get there yeah so it's something you've never really get now no no you're not even close yeah not even close to it now I like that and it changes in

some ways yeah well the different feeling about whatever it is but it it's always there I'm feeling that speaking about filling out yeah and I'm a key point in my stomach here cuz that's where it gets me it's like well it's talking too bad treatment I'm feeling the same same thing it's just like yeah and it's interesting you know like you you've you always see these these people not always but you see these people it's not the people that you think like you think they're gonna be super motivated and driven and stuff but don't you

just sit next to somebody you see in their eyes hmm and you can't be kind of that they can't explain that it's just you just not like this person is gone places I know that they know where they're going because when you get a feeling like that it gives you a tremendous on a clarity it gives you so much like I'll give you an example I did this project in Israel I was the thousand the thousand nine yeah cross across the deserts and I was going to do it for 14 days and as you can

imagine stifling hot yeah in the Negev desert no shade I had to worry about hyenas scorpions snakes all the usual stuff right water is just the usual stuff right water of course is a huge problem for me finding water food I can kind of go without day one day one about 40 kilometers into this 85 K though and a bump into this little goat goat the common goat shepherd yeah hey what are you doing that shorts on backpack yeah I said I'm ready to bring your natural trial it's 1000 not Congress law and she looked

me like well how the fuck are you doing that okay I see you guys over my friend that's that's that's crazy that's really crazy now every sounds Italian at this point but yeah and I said oh it's not not really know what what you do is actually nuts and then all of a sudden boom missile flew over our heads and boom the van next door it's like you think what I'll do is crazy yeah this is a crazy situation yeah and then again another one Oh day one 40 K's in like home this guy was

kind of like no it's no more it's the Middle East relax no problem at all that's so sure so then I ran that next part of the trial very fast the day after that said listen yeah the day after that I wake up one of my thoughts quite swollen yeah people say man like you're running these distance but yeah I've done a few these at this point so quantum spirits and I was like what's a bit big and that's it push the back down of my runners like you do much sort of awarded like a

crock yeah it's gonna funny I'm laces run them hobble through a five got a really bad got back and my my team are like wow yeah what's going on this is coming out I've got some you look on Instagram pages of yuck photo of my foot no two skins falling off it's all blowing up it's disgusting right next day they bunched it up I'll get out there again and then I see hyenas right in case by - get back books really worse way worse to the point where I really can't walk very well they're trying

to run at this stage 85 case yeah the team guys look we're a bit concerned about this book there's a red line coming up your leg now like we think it's infected maybe she just rushed off the hospital I just said no I came in to do a job and that's what they did right yeah end of story Bob next day chase by 10 so these bad things are completely happening to me yeah after that foot really bad hobbling can't can't make make the distance run out of water can't I can't even like lipstick into

the mouth on eyeball shriveling up really bad and find this ton of bit of yucky green water spewing out the ground and just yeah six day collapse yeah Bob won't ever go any further completely collapse luckily it claps and eating in my team and we're rushing off this emergency department Jerusalem and the doctor says meet dad like you got this brew out for the infection again if you want to come now you probably would be dead yeah it's insane really crazy now the point again is that all that adversity all those challenges all those things

right apart from just running the distance which is hard it's hard in itself yeah I have so much stuff again against me and when I unpack that and look at that that comes back to that need to do it a life-or-death moment yeah the sign of thing about that is when you have that is that I didn't see the problems this is what I'm working towards is fully focused and locked in on that I mean that's true commitment that is about banging them onto that you don't see the challenges then you see the - the

tanks missiles like you don't you don't have this very descriptive way to look at it okay because it's like but for most people the tanks and the hyenas and then and the footy affection are all regular everyday things yeah absolutely why you've done it is you just go okay well here's actually is and scorpion yeah yeah and you just ignore those you blind slightly like you somebody got blinkers on of course you're going through the pain of course you're feeling all because all this shit's happening to you but you you so locked in a dark

dialed in yeah about all that you just chasing that feeling so bad that that stuff is almost like no resistant more importantly though my team only ever said to me once perhaps you should go hospital and I said to them none I'm here to do to do this and they never asked that question again and all they did was help there let's try yeah because when you have that feeling you help it when you get what when you're trying to get what you need when you're locked in done and what you actually want when you're

going to what you do everybody about spice into that my team were like spot there's all the guys as far as what I'm doing I don't need to question them is what this is what's going to happen so we'll go on board too yeah it's an everybody around your benefits too you know and it's my seat in business all the time there's people have that you find that that pure need everyone else is like so inspired by them like that person's great that chick my boss love my boss the best thing ever yeah bitch but

she's got the wife of the wall she's like boom she's she's so focused in that yeah yeah that everything else becomes a right yeah what's what's been the we'll talk about like all the talking and speaking and about these experiences in a minute but what's been the one run or experience that you look back on and you're like yep that was the one that's really shaped who I am I don't think there's one yeah so it's just I think it's one I mean it's um well actually we go back to that one just speaking about

before you know in some in some ways that I made a documentary that one too yeah well I had to look back at the documentary to see who I was yeah because I didn't know really what's going on yeah again locked in so much yeah there's a point that where I hit the ground and the team run over the camera filming and stuff and I get choked on the back of this four drive I mean I'm in tears like back really bad like really like embarrassingly bad look at it and I look at that and

I go that wasn't even the pain of this one infection it was bad I mean like back like rush to hospital back it wasn't it wasn't the pain of all the tool that was that moment when you when you that's this death that's like I've just actually got to it yeah I've just died inside it I can't do this in fact it still pisses me off today that didn't actually do the actual record added data I'm not surprised that you say no data that it's really just like damn you know because when you've got that

you can go so far so that's one Marvin but I think it's hard because there's so there's so much happened in so many different things and I don't actually think that necessarily these trails of shape to I am I can just love shape to I yeah this has just been where you've expressed well these pros highlight stuff yeah that stuff's already there but when you take it to the stream like that you just highlight those areas yeah in some ways I'm thankful for that because otherwise I'm about to highlight what's happened in my life when

I look back through my life I've had way more adversity than a fun with the shotgun the crocodile fest you really miss off like that way way more yeah they think they found in comparison and really you know what's that adversity and pain and suffering toward you that you now can teach others that it's it's a given yeah you can't avoid it everyone suffers yeah in fact you can avoid it but then you look at habits so I'm kind of all that yeah what's fine but nothing happens so you have to you have to endure

it you have to just accept it and then that's hard and so it is easy at all but you have to you have to accept it I think it's a case of gun what can I do to help me get through it so it's interesting because I'm often asked by organizations to push particular sales team to say we want to push our people outside the comfort zone I often say that's actually quite unfair because I feel people most people are out of it so what I was given the tools to cope with it okay yeah

because then when you can cope with it then you can start being more innovative and you can be more creative then you can have a bit more vision but right now people are just treading water because life's like that yeah particularly now because the world's constantly changing every single day so you don't know if whatever you do today is applicable tomorrow yeah it's so destructive the demands and there's a greater than ever before we have to do more with less we have to be we get a weekend that for the best part is made of

taking kids to sport going to other meetings trying to keep our friends happy you know found like it and then you're back to work on Monday morning I like I think it totally perpetuates over and over again yeah people are already outside the comfort zone yeah freaked out no no idea what the fuck's going on like I'm completely exhausted and they're exhausted mentally physically exhausted it's like well let's give people the tools to work through that progress through that that challenge adversity that difficulty that pain yeah you know sometimes I don't like some of these

words pain and stuff because it's pain but it's not really is it's not like you put you run over by car or something yeah yeah what what are those tools that you can articulate to people just through talking because obviously experiencing and understanding through adversities what like that's a tool within itself right yeah but then actually talking to someone about your adversities and giving them learning experiences from that what are the tools that you suggest or give or I took um I've done a few of these trails and then what I did was that I

was always asked why which you started with right yeah cost and I could never answer the question because you can't want to like we said come on sick right yeah so I said make it up or just tell people on what they want to hear this is completely local bullshit yeah so what I decided to do is go and find out find out why so I'm going to research this whole with a whole bunch of psychological experts quite fitting some people think but from sports psychologists clinical everything you can imagine like right right across the

country right to the point where did this thing called past life regression therapy okay those people don't know what that is that's when you get hypnotized and you go back into the life before the life you had today okay right but apparently I was a horse so I did this 360 approach I want to figure out why I'm trying to find out why maybe really depressed yeah I said this is ridiculous and so most of the experts said doesn't matter just because yeah that's it that's that's okay just because there's nothing wrong with that answer

yeah so then I went okay well then how does this everyday guy did done this because that you know you know me I'm they said I'm not no no I don't consider myself being athlete an adventurer some sort of freak like it they're just labels of you ourselves right yeah yeah I'm just this time just an everyday person I don't enjoy the running part not super late I'm not like Steve Monagetti I'm not that lean Kenyan athlete you think of like I'm a chunky guy if that's okay just taking the legs of it last week

I helped to stay in Singapore yeah and a lady came up to me she's probably she's your right you don't know like a runner you don't look like an adventure says you look more like a retired boy with a hair and stuff that's actually a great yeah so I did all this research and I'm trying to figure out okay well then how about it and when I when really what it comes down to is that it's all about adaptability just adapt into situations because you can't change them yes you just need to adapt to them

it's understanding what you can control yeah and there's different little sort of different situations where where I do that yeah but for the best part you can actually predict most people can actually predict what's gonna happen in the future yeah to understand yeah meaning that I know when I decide to go and run five thousand plus that at some stage I'm probably gonna give up and your feet are probably gonna get and they're gonna be sore and I'm gonna be tired and I'm gonna be pissed off the list goes on right you can't survive your

old what would happen if and they're totally the same but like you don't need to be a rocket science to work yeah the cool thing is is that if you are honest with yourself and go okay I've got this day ahead I'm gonna die let's take it back to your to your listeners I want I'm gonna die mmm lucky to me I've got to be on the diet and I know it's Christine's birthday today Friday in the office I tell them to treat themselves well and there's gonna be cake right understand you know that and

you know it is cake I'm probably you know what if you know that why do something about it now yeah I don't even advance go okay what am I gonna do to make sure I don't eat the cake remove myself from the room do I call lucky up and talk about doing cake so I bring some do it things now water what is it the interesting thing is when you start doing that enough to be honest with yourself and the challenges you're gonna come up against when something comes up that you can't predict by default

you're gonna pay for it yeah that makes sense yeah so if you go back to I mentioned about the shotgun the right style hmm when a farmer stuck a shotgun in the mouth in the middle of nowhere and said to me I'm about to blow your brains out yeah what what do you do yeah I can't predict that yeah I'm gonna go for a run and what might happen is like you can't believe that but what happens is because I predict most of my day the feed the anxieties the the procrastination all the things that

potential will happen at that moment I'm actually more prepared than I think I am yeah that's true resilience yeah now I can be resilient because I'm actually that's a really funny situation because when I unpack that with the psychologist they basically said that I want I didn't even mention the fact of scared or freaked out I was actually quite calm about it I'm kind of caught cracked a few jokes now I guess it's one of those when you're completely resigned to the things that are in your control and things that aren't that kind of situation

is just another another scorpion or another pack of hyenas like it's just you've got to work through yeah and you do all those little all those things that you've kind of trained yourself to do day to day yeah all just commit to action they don't know about it it does make me a hero I'm not saying I'm a hero cuz I just cruise through it I'll be happy and haha yeah but far from it yeah the point is that when you acknowledge your reality when something comes along that you cannot plan and you weren't prepared

for you actually will be prepared just by fighting I think that's an important one right acknowledging reality so many so many of us finds find excuses or reasons or make up these stories in our head as to why something can't happen or why it shouldn't happen or why it's happened a certain way and that kind of stops us from being able to see it for the way it really is yeah I think that ability to stop take a breath assess the situation and what's actually truthful what's actually real allows us to assess and then make

a step forward and not get stuck yeah well sometimes it can work in two ways they're right yeah so you've got a goal you want it head for and people say I have these big old dashes hairy goals oh yeah that's that's that's all great until what you gotta get out there early tomorrow morning restrict yourself and then go together next day and again and again and again right that's that's that so it doesn't work because you're not set to between point A and point B you need to figure that bit out yeah on the

other side of things sometimes when you look at that point A to point B and all the struggling that you go fuck that hmm yeah which tells me that the reason for doing it is not the right reason yeah because what happens is that we said before when you need it that bit doesn't matter yeah when you really but when you look at that reality and you start questioning our child with it oh but you didn't really want it in the first place but you still question even if that reasons there right like there would

have been times during your runs you know especially that that thousand 9k one where you just like you know what the fuck am I doing what did you tell yourself or what thought processes I think you say that but you don't actually mean that yes that's like yeah just a subconscious yeah yeah yeah yeah I mean it's also load myself what was a massive amount of accountability like ridiculous amounts of camber yeah I feel like I'm accountable to so many people and that works in two ways for me it helped it's massive massive amount of

support yeah but it's also a massive amount of pressure yeah that's the best part of course I'm in isolation Matt matter alone it's like a trade-off right like the more accountable you are to someone else and the more you don't let them down the more support you'll probably get for it from them and vice versa yeah well some people who I'm accountable to wouldn't know that I make them yeah people so if you think of a funnel right and at the point the end of the bottom is you you are on your lonesome right I

think if you were to go about something yourself you'd be you do struggle yeah like it's definitely harder yeah I think if you go up that funnel you can eat at key add in layers so for me my first point of call is always well I'm doing this for the people I love I'm doing it you know my mechanical to my family yeah my partner family the next level of probably my friends my friends is gonna do this yeah the next level of that is for me could be things like more sponsors I got sponsored

to do this yeah funders on the charity and he cares up online community to do the list goes up and up and up and that end ends up being a massive amount of pressure on that point at the very bottom of all that pressure my shoulders yeah feel obligated to carry out what I said I'm gonna do now when I was going to speak to leaders and organizations they will say to me but I've got no fucking pressure that is my whole pressure my back yeah I said but if you flip the funnel upside down

to the point of it to the top you stand on top of a mountain of people that you support me I like that a lot and that's extremely powerful it's an incredible analogy that's very cool super powerful like it's super powerful so you know as much as I felt obligated to do it I'm also feeling I'm supported people believe in me yeah they want to say we succeed yeah it doesn't always have to be big things like I have it doesn't have to be like I don't like immunity there's sponsors and stuff and a charity

like one of those powerful people in my candidate least for normal everybody follow that pyramid he's a little boy I met doing the Australian trail I've done about 4,000 about 4,000 commas at this point yeah and I was asked to come into this little prom school and do a presentation right so I came off the trail went to school and they know just young kids come about maybe they always was seven or something yeah I just spoke about the animals and out on the way dogs kangaroos and stuff and then it was kind of I

think they did a little charity event it was like where red day or something's all the kids were in red yeah and they paid two dollars and that two dollars we go to the charity of support at the time yeah so finish a little presentation off it's about to leave exactly need to get back in the trail because I'm trying to the fastest and stuff and this little boy run run up to me and give me an envelope and said okay mister I was like oh thanks and he ran off yeah okay it's the two

dollars the charity thing so I got into the car park and this lady came up to me and she said oh did you get could you get your envelope so yeah I did thanks please say kiss can you say thanks to the principal because I can't see her anywhere and I've got to get back on the trail yeah she's from the principal that I believe you've got any hand there said yeah she's that's not from the principal that's from my son Jack you know that little boy they give it to you I said yes she

is and that's Jack he when the school said that you're gonna come to speak two months ago yeah he followed you on Facebook and stuff things like I want to help Richard out I want to help this charity out and when I opened that envelope had like seven dollars 15 or something even saving up his pocket money washing cars and saved up seven dollars building to give him that that still gives me that makes me skin yeah my hands like my neck kind of stuff yeah how of course he goes into my list yeah how

can I not go and push myself through stuff when some little seven-year-old kid yeah could save all his money I said I was 50 for me yeah I mean that's that's the little people are that can be powerful really powerful it's probably the most powerful seven dollars fifty going around that's you what's the point where a week later I was staying on the banks of the date the danger river yeah everyone knows what danger is famous for right mother-in-law's yeah so yeah that point right there like do you cross you're not cross you'll lose my

legs and that guy keeps him things like that come to your mind what how can I not huge talk to me about is your speaking gigs and how you translate all the stuff that you've done an experience to you know a room full of people waiting to hear something inspirational magical profound profound I think it's really about being inspirational motivation I think inspiration and motivation is all around us you just have to open up your Instagram feed and you'll just go there we go there's motivation there's someone doing cool shit doesn't have any money yeah

it's there take away yeah look at any any social feed it's all around us understand I don't think motivation inspiration really helps many people might have you right now oh it's so amazing any I might go speak to for an hour oh great and then what happens on Monday morning back in the office but there's no changes yeah to me I there's eight tools that I came up with three research that I did anything finish that off so that research yeah I end up figuring out how and we I came up with these eight tools

and I call it like a multi-tool right so like a Swiss Army knife yeah use what you need when you need engine when you need it get you have any emergency all the ventures have it you slip it in your pocket you have it and I give those those principles those tools to people yeah but not all of them because you can't share eight in an hour presentation yeah you just can't but what you do is is you go well what's what's it what's the presentation about leadership sales like the whole bunch of different things

and what's the challenges is challenges that that you have and then I can take two three four of those principles and share those to help people get through the challenges that they have in that particular role or organization or whatever's going on so it's really about giving people some tools and strategies they can use yeah there's no point me just give you I did this and that makes me amazing and you can do it too you know it's just it's not gonna help yeah see you need that you need the tools and you need the

straight look strategies to better use now doesn't mean that most people use it because it is done that's just the way life is but you know for me it's like you're going to give people something that they can take away they can actually use doesn't mean it's gonna work for you not necessarily just get someone's hammer it doesn't mean they can use it no that's just the way I did it and I think you know I can say to people that it doesn't mean you have to do it this way just just maybe just think

about it maybe there's a different angle on it it's the same thing different angle and when I look at the sort of the principles that I've I've used the tools I've used it is that if I look at other speakers look at other people that deliver workshops and that it's the same stuff yeah you know it's not really it's I'm not magical it's the same stuff I've just got a completely different experience the way I've experienced it's completely different the way I've used it is a little bit different yeah and that's really what's all around

it like no one's that it's no magic formula it's been the same since caveman the others it's not gonna change just like inside yeah doing it like basically like for me that just comes into action and the people that are successful and whatever the fuck that word means to everyone but people that are successful rotation marks other people are that like I said figure out what why they want something and then why they why they why why the wise and then take action to get there and do things on the hands of the people that

are forever searching for that yeah you're someone that's being able to just do it but let me just say that that doesn't mean that I don't still not do stuff yeah I think that's the misconception people think the thing is someone's he's a successful achieve something that that they just didn't have any fear and they just did stuff and I know I spoke about not having fear when you but you still it's fruits all that stuff like you it's not it's never easy so to stop you still get a punch in the face of it

yeah it's still that voice in your head totally and then someone who doesn't like it doesn't like running I love that so much that's such a it's such an interesting thing but it's so many people who do you know no one's obviously done the same things you've done but do things like that will have the same sentiment it's just like I don't love this this is just my way of expressing now like running the your flavor for expressing your desire to achieve it's the work component do that saying if you work your passion of the

work of the day in your life I'm tipping you work your passion yeah it's fucking hard the best but you're the passion bits probably five percent yeah of the stuff you have to do the rest of paperwork sales stuff tax all the bullshit that you hate yeah hate right well that's work yeah and that's the that's the running component to me yeah that's your running path hey you know what people said well why choose that I didn't I didn't choose it yeah you started on it it just chose me I just I have to do

it it's just I hate the fact it's running I wish it was like competitive ironing or something it's not like it's running and I hate that streamline I hate that because now I feel like I've got this life while I have to go out and run yeah I could get up at 4 30 this morning again just get half an hour before I came down here and yeah because I'm the running person that's what I should do yeah and and to be honest my angles a little bit different now I'm heading towards other stuff I

guess in my in my life and in my career if you want to call it that yeah that really isn't a ballroom because I don't I think I'm done with it I'm just yeah I don't care for get back I'm gonna call the podcast I don't care if I get back what so what is what is it your week look like at moment what is it regular like it's probably not a regular week because you do a bunch of different stuff yeah what is your regular week look like in what we like a minute by

minute it's like what are you saying the next week doing you're intending to do it is probably a little different to what you're actually we're gonna do but well what have you spent the last week doing and what what was the plan for the next couple of weeks okay well my obviously my business is speaking to organizations and that varies dramatically in how much you travel around the country each week from once in a week the three times a week yeah so that takes a lot of time over that and then you have to tailor

your material for a typical organization yeah and that takes a lot of preparation people think often that speaking is easy it is if you just want to go and turn an adventure story and just keep it the same every single time and just offer some inspiration if you're an audience but if you want to dig in deep and fix some problems and help people out then you really need to sit down with them and really figure out what happened what that is and then okay how does my principles relate to that learning their language and

understanding because obviously if I go present for example to NAB which I don't know and then the following we're going to present to Peter's ice cream to the sales team yeah did completely the language I'm saying the problems might be very similar yeah believe it or not but the language around that's completely different so I have to learn an industry language or an organization's language and the way they they word stuff so I can word that in my presentation yeah then I understand them so a lot of my stuff is preparation rehearsing speaking to myself

at home home office yeah the neighbors just think you speak yeah well you don't you don't become proficient at something if you don't sit there and practice totally totally so I have to tell the stories again and sometimes I remove stuff I add stuff I mean this week I'll be on the phone with a fellow speaker of mine who lives up in the Gold Coast and I just said I've got this new idea listen to this whack on skype ten minute telling the story and change that do this keep that it's a lot of preparation

and then to find the work obviously it's like any business you know but sell stuff marketing stuff do workshops create video content your clients how about your stuff and then on top of that I have to go and deliver which is the hard bit yeah and then so that's business kind of stuff then I'm running every day if I can yeah and that becomes increasingly difficult for traveling cause I am I do a lot of writing I write for a few adventure magazines cool and that is I find that really hard actually yeah really hard

take time is it just do you find the like expressing and getting the message across as a hard part the hard part for me is that I my brain runs in million miles an hour which people would have would know and I got a yeah I got a young I guess a compliment at the same time as a bit of negative not negative feedback some feedback where the pretty senior guy for an organization I was working with said mate you are like you've got like a genius Brian thanks I think so too he said because

you can think from top to bottom in the same thought which is really really good thing to have like you can think the tops of on something because you understand you can understand it very quickly and then you're thinking all turn all the gaps the difficulty is that the person you're telling compliment again yeah yeah so I have a wife all around yeah yeah so what happens is when I'm writing I have to get really really make myself be really really simple yeah it's plain stuff but at the same time you can't over explain stuff

because you don't don't have the matter words to be able to do yeah yeah you want to get your point across yeah that's the same way and I think also my mom I mean academically at school I felt miserable miserably felt bad yeah bad even to the point now I write stuff on Facebook so it's there not there or to not to you know like yes yeah yeah you know like it and I think I in my mind I'll make it probably more difficult for myself because of that some currency looking through like a the

source to go okay what I mean by this word yeah that's I think that's proper writing should be like that use the right words and stuff so do all of that kind of stuff and yes they're running mine so get out there but doing the love-hate relationship that I hear this one is a very interesting and then it's working new projects so next week I mean in Japan but there's obviously a lot of bad stuff happening on there right yeah yeah so it's a holiday and what's gonna be a holiday and a work trip now

it's gonna be a holiday but um there was a some monks there's a magical the map map the marathon monks of Mount heat here yes yeah they basically run a marathon I run a mountain for a thousand days yeah good some old traditional kids yeah and if you complete that and I think it's only been like 58 people since the year 700 yeah they've done they've never completed it yeah with two of those people doing it twice cuz you knock it over once you just like you know what I feel like doing again yeah you

know there's a whole backstory on that because they there's limited food they have other jobs to do work stuff it's pretty their outfits are distant sandals sandals made of rope and stuff yeah crazy but basically if they complete that they become a modern kind of modern-day site becoming the light enlightened yeah apparently apparently so it's kind of intriguing that cuz I feel like in some ways I've kind of done the same thing maybe I'm enlightened to you guys I was thinking yeah but then what was what's enlightenment anyway I could be like enlightened today before

something yeah it's just a lot that follows you around all day right then you stop and you hear that look that's so yeah all the little projects I'm working on I was going to do some writing on them let's open do a little doc over those guys but that's been canned because of the the typhoon and stuff that's happened there yeah so it's gonna go and relax awesome hopefully good I've got heaps of heaps of our ideas the challenge is not doing them the challenge is going do what we don't want to do it yeah

I'll be going full circle again come back and I go pick amongst myself I like the idea of that yeah I'm never gonna change that yeah how do you discern between the ideas that you like the idea of and the ones you actually do because I don't feel I don't feel it I like the idea of something I can fantasize about it yeah my memory I'd be great this bigger I love that that's that's what I call a head goal hmm what we got is a hard goal yeah let me go okay I'm gonna not

I would like to do that but I want I'm gonna do I have to do that yeah so you're gonna be from from head to heart when it comes to goals because the head goals are just stuff you've had it's great sounds good awesome feels good but it's not really feeling good yeah you got it's gonna come from the heart you know people call that passion and whatever probably one of those hard to articulate what I always could so we use the other things I used well I think it's put out of context that's the

problem it's not like when things start to get overused they get pulled out of context and people say you gotta be passionate what does that mean yeah I'm passionate about my life yeah it doesn't maybe get to where I want to go yes because I'm passionate yeah see if we come back again to the shotgun Marvin that morning I want to motivate inspired passionate ready to kill it and four thousand K's in you got fifteen hundred K's left oh I'm pumped until when the guy says they're gonna blow your fucking brains out tell me through

that story like you've touched on a few times but what actually happened what happened yeah that's what happened that well okay so as I mentioned before yeah I was four thousand K's in or something I don't know the exact distance but let's say four thousand K's in the five and a half thousand K right and I'm used to spend a lot of time we own I do have a team a small team that looks after me but I can see them every day or every week depending where the access is on the truck yeah which

means I'm very self-sufficient don't see people I talked to kangaroos and I talked to wild pigs and trees and stuff you know because I have to get myself through it yeah so I didn't see my team for a week pretty tired run for our four thousand kilometers mentally physically a little bit big enough hungry ran out food bit thirsty I woke up this morning but especially the last day to get to the team so that excited me yes interaction yeah so pumped got up got up early so I make my way across the hills and

the mountains and then I got to the brow of this one here and I saw this a little kind of stone humpy pop everyone to call it yeah with some smoke balloon out of the top people pay oh my god it's just great interaction I need to speak to somebody yeah and it's always exciting when you meet people who live in the wilderness yeah it's just a whole different kind of human why yeah well they're not really human that's interesting so as I approach this this little shack thing pretty excited all of a sudden this

like pig hunting dog came bolting out me yeah like shoot really aggressive like it was frothing at the mouth had a big sky down its face and whipped off my back backpack and I was fending off my backpack chewing in my backpack I was like yeah I'll be there shouting at it yeah now the core of my eye I saw a guy chopping up some wood with an axe distance and like hey trying to get his attention this dog and he he did and he dropped his axe and he once he picked up picked up

sugar and he came he came but he came but Bolton towards towards me and this dog chewing on my backpack aggressively and the best thing she has that is fluff a big quiet this thing whimpers off alright sit next to him and then he said to me and he just shoved the shotgun up to me and said who are you said I'm Richard Bowles are you and then he just shoved his gun closer towards me says no who are you and what are you doing here I said well I'm Richard Bowles and I'm running five

and a half thousand Columbus across the great divide right that's why yeah good good lying and then he pushed it in the side of the face he says asked who are you what are you doing aggressively aggressively this shotgun stuff this on the face I said Richard Bowles yeah we're in this national trial that's why I'm here my shorts and t-shirt yeah I'm trying to do this and he then he ran in my mouth and said I'm gonna bring my brains out who the fuck are you what are you doing here I said damn I'm

doing it for charity don't you like to donate who are you what are you doing here like f-bombs bomb bomb bomb ram it in my frakker I still can just feel that you know cold barrel on my lips and does that smell a good man or just freaks you out and I need to shit her mouth and I just we're just having this sort backwards and forwards who are you trying to explain and just and but quite casually I wasn't like I'm I wasn't scared I don't remember being scared and then we're being aggressive just

like oh this guy I'm doing charity yeah and they just went on a lot ping-pong about that for a while with his shotgun random mouth from trying to mumble these words to him and then at the corner of the other eye I noticed he had a bit of an orchard behind this kind of wooden shack that he had so I just said hey man I like it orchard he took the ground on my mouth he goes do you know what pal I've been growing those mandarins for a while now we'd like to try one yeah

sure yeah well funny thing is he went and pick these mandarins off the trees for us and he's peeling his off and shove him in his mouth and it was it was so excited oh man they've been blessed this year they're Sweden they've ever been look how orange they are and meanwhile I'm feeding mine to fluffy yeah the the wild dog it's like the point is Apple story I thought like he's probably poison me isn't it and then he told me all about this mandarin so then he put his arm around he goes anyway we

all know pal he down in my shack there there's a bit of a gay it's a lot gay just throw yourself over there head down there and he goes and you'll be on be on your way on the trail thanks man so gonna bumped into you awesome shook hands I jumped over and shook my leg over this guy ran pretty fast well no I took my leg over the guy he goes out anyway it's not me need to be scared of it's my neighbor so I tiptoed yeah I didn't run as fast as I could

I tiptoed for 25 kilometers to get out to my team did you find it on Facebook when you know it's um I don't had you I mean it's hard to articulate that yeah but um what happened there but really what it came down to what I what I figured out what happened is that I put so many things in place staying down yeah that I was actually more prepared than I thought and you become massively resilient and all these little things just the way I do deal with fear kicks into place anxiety gets into place

keeping you calm and when you when you're faced with these crazy moments like that and these life-threatening moments to some extent but when you face with those shotgun moments in your life we need to make a decision it becomes very easy because when you start doing this enough you become it's almost like you're about to fly above yourself like a helicopter and you can see what's going on yeah it is so you can keep keep you calm and you can see where you want to go and you know why situation before you react yeah and

you're just able to deal with it in the right way but the problem often is is that we get confronted with stuff and we just go oh and we lose a shit that's like we get what's gets all too hard so we end up retreating or just not bothering or giving up or whatever yeah but for me it was like all that stuff always little tools cleaning the place now and I was able to keep quite calm and figure a way to get through it you know incredible story you know you can be yeah it's

what I think about now it's just like really really wild yeah I got my head blown off good my garbage shotgun now one more question for you yeah no I'm not single if this might be fine with you this is the last time the last time you ever saw me what's one piece of tangible information you give me to live the rest of my life with just get a life like get one you have to get one for you no I'm of course we're joking um I think almost impossible question to answer like I think

we're all so different that um what you what do you leave somebody what you leave your kids before you I mean how do you yeah and I was on the death bed you lost that from your death bed oh what if you were 80 man it's your man in a rocking chair and you render that kind of an allergy yeah would you what would you want your life to be what you want people to think of you so I don't know people gonna think well the one thing yeah what I want to think yeah yeah

but if you did we're gonna get there there's that ability to control you can control coming in because you just like I don't know I can't do anything about it yeah yeah if you're gonna die this way this is actually someone who I had after some of this stuff I had some trouble in times of a life just with some things going on in a work relationship a whole bunch of stuff happening and I would expect something like that but just lose my shadow yeah and the guy asked that question look rich yeah if you

had a week to live or two weeks to live unfortunately what would you want to happen yeah it's a stupid question yeah it says why I said because I know what I know why you're asking him if I'm going to live I'd break all the rules yeah oh yeah I'd speed yeah money is a party I get drunk all the time if I do drugs I've never tried before I just experienced I'd go off I just have sex with anybody men women animals I don't care like to a point where it's like that's a stupid

question yeah I think sometimes not that your question is stupid but I think sometimes there's questions like what do you want do you leave somebody yeah this is the one thing you must do this is a bunch of things you gotta do yeah it's not one thing but I think you look I think even if anything that if we're gonna have something I think that fear is a big thing a massive thing actually and it comes in different forms for you it's not just like oh I'm scared of the dog but you know just just

the ability not to take a step forward you need to always take a step forward regardless if the guy's got a gun in your face you need to take a step forward even if he says don't and I'm using that as an analogy by the way nothing physical yeah I think you just need to do it regardless don't have to think it just always take steps always yeah and if it's the wrong move it's a wrong move at least you found out it's the wrong move yeah it's better than being frozen fear and standing there

and never knowing you've got to always be running you know even if you have it you've always got to be running and you know people will often decide they're gonna let's say let's take a business I'm gonna start to do a business and people go what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna take take a step at a time did make sure it works and that kind of stuff yeah I'm kind of the opposite don't go now why don't you run full speed because either way it's gonna work out it's not gonna work now fish why

don't you find out sooner I'm gonna take three months to finance I'm gonna work why you find the festival and that happened in my in my current relationship we met is that we met and pretty much off the bat moved in everything was gonna have a freak to the hell out yeah like this is so fun I'm like well if it's not gonna work now we're gonna find out yeah otherwise we can date for three years and then go actually yeah isn't working but if we just go also just about immersive intent like kind of

intensive thing we're just like let's figure it out one way or another it's gonna you know if you if you put a wine barrel whiskey barrel Jim barrel you know if you stop stuff me enough of June it's gonna crack it is if his cracks there it's gonna start spilling out you know and that's the way I've kind of see it's just like go fully hard into it yeah and find out you can find it anyway like that like a lot how can people find out about you listen read watch hear from you find me

on tinder go ahead you can't actually come up yeah grinder don't tell me about you know mate committed right oh well I didn't know that long long term um just just good for me yeah just put Richard Biles into Google it all comes up cool um yeah all the face come up for stuff you know for sending Bo W L e s good there's a bunch of little videos out there I'm not that proud of them because some of them are just diary entries for the day when I've been out in the world more than

this and they just yeah yeah it's time to probably capture all the shit you've done on a video I think yeah there's so much there's so much in that so they run book it kind of half in the process of that good and it's something I hate so I know I have to do it yeah yeah for a long while it's been difficult right because my thoughts and around certain things would shift so I'd write something but a particular idea and a principle that I had and then go back to it now this the other

thing happened in my life and I think differently about that now it makes it really really hard yeah but now I'm to a point where I'm pretty solid in my in the things that I have and not really changed and the principles kind of stay the same it's just who's it for now who do I actually write it for and you know it's some of something tells me that it should probably be business based because that's my work area yeah but look business book or not business box or same shit I'm stuff you just take

what you need out of it yeah I understand I've got a friend who buys books just on the titles yeah and he will admit that he's never gonna read them really that's a way I read it for you guys because the title inspired me so I put on my bookshelf yeah the title of the time gotten let's give me a new idea or news for that something well I think some books like the idea is so simple and like simple being complex sometimes that you can look at the title and go yep I know exactly

what that books you need about I don't have to spend 10 hours reading and what I can spend 10 hours taking action right yeah yeah I think you need to spend it's hard to look I do they say that so you know leaders read and this kind of stuff I'm not all of them I think people that like reading read yeah I mean I like the idea of reading and I do read but it takes me ages to get through a book yeah because I just you know even this is good stuff and there's like

well we're gonna read it before I go to bed and I'm going to bed because I'm tired yeah yeah my playwrights is where I get in yeah if I'm not doing that so I'm writing or working myself yeah it's difficult I think just sometimes I wonder maybe just some sort of picture quote kind of book of mine might be actually better than yeah good for a full-blown thing yeah I like that or to much like the taller the more the multi-tool that I have is that you can put in your pocket and you just flick

it out on that page and boom there's your thing that you need for that moment yeah I like that I really like those picture books that are kind of coffee table books with actual information and they're not just photos and that's that's not a bad way to go yeah there's a coffee but it's a coffee table practical don't know it depends how many coffees you have and feel but where you feel book look yeah it was kind of better there you go done so don't do that I'm pleased with I think I'm coming on and

we're welcome love your work thanks buddy
