Wallace's Weekly Wrap

Happy Friday you wonderful humans.

Let me begin this weeks correspondence by expressing my extreme gratitude, appreciation and respect for Jarryd Palser. aka Moo, aka Pulse, aka Koo Wee Rup's resident hipster.

If you missed it, Pulse took over the email last week and he hit it out of the park.

A raw, honest, powerful discussion into mental health. He showed immense courage and vulnerability and if the stream of appreciation from all of you was anything to go by, said exactly what was needed to be said.

It's certainly a hard act to follow. Each week when I sit down to write this email, I ponder the lessons and ideas that have been themes throughout the week.

I choose the one which I believe can add the most value, and then I write.

Well today I've got nothing. So what I'll do instead is to put together a list.

Lets call it 'Wallace's list of goodness' : Principles that I believe we should all do our best to live our lives by, things that we won't always get right, but if we can get close, we will at least be content with who we are, and how the world works.

  1. Find people like Jarryd Palser, and cherish them.

  2. We already have more than we need to be happy, that late night internet purchase won't change anything.

  3. Sing your favourite songs. Belt them out.

  4. Find a community, it just might save your life.

  5. Contribute to your community, you might just save someone else's.

  6. Your current situation is a reflection of your previous habits. Sure you are what you eat, and you are what you do.

  7. If you're not happy, change something. Take the plunge. Life is too short to be miserable.Y

  8. eah it's hard to change something, and yes, you have what it takes.

  9. If you want to get better at something, you'll need two things. Reps + deliberate practice.

  10. Look after the bees. The world needs them.

  11. It's meant to be fun. Then it will be hard. But it will eventually be fun again.

  12. Celebrate your wins, but don't go over the top.

  13. Be kind to yourself. Own your mistakes, but be kind to yourself.

  14. Hope ain't a tactic. You'll need to plan, and do the work.

  15. Melancholy is the wise alternative to wild hope and catastrophic despair.

  16. You'll never regret putting in extra time to get to know how something, or how someone works.

  17. Be sure to know what winning looks like.

  18. Rely on those closest to you, share their burdens and let them share yours.

  19. Solitude is an attainable superpower.

  20. Tie your shoelaces in double knots. You're not a child.

  21. Find solace in stillness and silence. The world is chaos, but your world doesn't have to be.

  22. Know that you will die, and life is meaningness.

  23. Just because you'll die, and life is meaningless, doesn't mean you can't create your own meaning and do something remarkable.

  24. Don't be cynical, be hopeful that things will and can get better. But remember #14.

  25. A clear mind leads to a better mind which leads to a better outcome.

  26. Do hard things. Future you will thank you for it.

  27. Share your successes with others. There is no such thing as a self made man. But there is such thing as rich, 'successful', lonely old men.

  28. Yes you're getting older, things are changing. But old is earned, embrace it.

  29. Spend more time listening than you do talking. You have two ears and one mouth, use them accordingly.

  30. Noone is responsible for your life but you. Start acting like it

  31. .If your food needs a knife and fork, don't put it in a bowl. It belongs on a plate.

  32. Search for your blind spots, we all have them.

  33. If you really want something, focus. You can't chase two rabbits at once.

  34. The big secret is that there isn't one. Noone really knows what they are doing. What a world we live in.

  35. Keep your fluids up. Brush your teeth. Put sunscreen on. Wear your seatbelt.

  36. Hug tightly, often.

  37. Journal, or write down your thoughts, it'll change your life.

  38. Know the difference between what you want, and what you need.

  39. Read books. You can learn in 400 pages what it took someone a lifetime to put together.

  40. Read poetry. 10 lines can change the way you see yourself, and how you see the world.

  41. You don't have to be in incredible shape. But you need to be in credible shape to get the most out of each day

  42. .If you have more than 3 tabs open on your browser, fix it.

  43. Things are not good or bad, they just are. You can decide the meaning you prescribe to each moment.

  44. There is adventure in everyday life, you just need to look for it.

  45. When others talk, listen completely.

  46. Know that you're probably wrong about most things.

  47. Don't trust anyone that writes long lists. Figure shit out for yourself.

If one, or more of these resonated with you, i'd love to know which ones.

    Much Love
    Wallace

Ps. The number 47 holds no meaning, it's just a number, and I was ignoring my friends.

At Virtus, we know the hardest part of training isn’t the session itself, it’s showing up consistently. We all say it at some point: “I don’t have time. Now isn’t a good time. Life feels too full.” And that’s real. Life is busy. But here’s the truth: the problem isn’t time or location. It’s how we think about consistency. Waiting for the perfect 60 minute slot in the gym is the fastest way to keep missing sessions. Most people fall into the trap of believing training has to look a certain way: one full hour in the gym, no interruptions, perfect energy levels. The reality is life rarely lines up like that. Instead of missing workouts altogether, we flip the script at Virtus. Consistency is built on adaptability, not perfection, and that’s where the Tiers of Opportunity come in. Think of it like this: your best case scenario might be a full Virtus session at 6am. That’s the gold standard. But what if life gets in the way? You still have other options. Maybe it’s a half session later in the morning. Maybe it’s a run or walk in the afternoon. Maybe it’s 15 minutes of home mobility at night. Every option still moves the needle forward. The only truly bad option is doing nothing at all. We’ve seen it work countless times in our community. A parent squeezes in a 30-minute home workout between school drop-off and work. One of our footy boys hits a quick 15-minute speed block before training. Another member fits in push-ups, squats, and a jog before dinner. These aren’t perfect sessions, but they’re powerful because they keep the chain unbroken & move the needle towards the person they want to become. This system works because it stops the cycle of starting and stopping. No more feeling like you’re back at square one. Adaptability is what keeps you consistent, and that’s how training habits stick, even during the busiest seasons of life. Consistency doesn’t come from perfect routines, it comes from using the time you do have and leaning on the Virtus community and coaching team to back you up along the way. Training with us means you’re never doing this alone. We’ll help you find your Plan A and build your week around it. We’ll make sure you’ve got Plans B, C, and D ready so you don’t fall off track. And we’ll keep you accountable through coaching, check-ins, and the community around you. At Virtus, consistency is built into the system. So here’s the takeaway: it’s not about being perfect, it’s about finding ways to move the needle, even slightly, every day. Fifteen minutes beats zero. Imperfect sessions compound into powerful results. Adaptability keeps you consistent. Consistency gets you stronger, leaner, and more capable. And consistency, over time, is what makes the difference between wishing for progress and living it. At Virtus, we’ll help you build the systems that keep you training no matter how busy life gets. At Virtus Performance, everything we do, from our coaching to our programming, is built on three key foundations: Enjoyment, Consistency, and Progress. Combined with built-in feedback loops, these principles ensure constant evolution, athlete buy-in, and results that last. Humans are complex, adaptive systems, always changing and responding to our environment. At the same time, we are also simple beings. We repeat the things we enjoy and the things that help us improve. That is why these three factors sit at the heart of Virtus coaching. 1. Enjoyment: Training You Actually Want to Do If training feels like punishment, you will eventually stop. Willpower can only carry you so far. That is why at Virtus, we design world-class strength and conditioning programs that are challenging, but also fun, rewarding, and engaging. Enjoyment is fuelled by our community. You will connect with others, laugh, and celebrate wins along the way. Training becomes more than just another task. It becomes one of the best parts of your week. 2. Consistency: The Secret to Real Change The people who achieve their goals are not always the most talented. They are the ones who keep showing up. Consistency is the real secret sauce in strength and conditioning. At Virtus, we do not just coach. We educate. You will learn why the work matters, how to fit training into a busy life, and how to build habits that stick. Through accountability and support, we help you keep turning up week after week, so results compound over time. 3. Progress: Becoming More Capable Progress fuels motivation. When you can see and feel change, you want to keep going. Whether it is lifting heavier, moving better, running faster, or simply feeling stronger and more capable in your own skin, progress is what drives long-term commitment. That is why our coaching emphasises performance. With structured programs, regular testing weeks, and goal reviews, we ensure you are not just training. You are evolving. At Virtus, we believe in continual improvement. Every program includes feedback loops: testing, reflection, and goal setting that ensure your training adapts as you do. This process creates genuine athlete buy-in because you see and feel the results of your work. Our philosophy is simple. Training should help you do more of the things you love, in a stronger and more capable way. By combining Enjoyment, Consistency, and Progress with our pillars of Community, Education, and Performance, Virtus coaching sets the foundation for long-term success. That is Virtus. That is Better Every Day. Ready to dive in and experience Virtus? TLDR: Be more dog. Train hard, live well, and remember to enjoy the bloody walk. At Virtus we are lucky, we get to observe the dogs who inhabit 1/2 Torca every day. They can teach us more than we realise if we are paying attention... Have you ever watched a dog sprint full tilt after a ball, tongue flapping, eyes locked on the prize? They?re not thinking about their to-do list or beating themselves up over yesterday?s mistakes. They?re just in it . When was the last time you were this way? Even for a moment
